Buon Giorno down, Mano’s to go… 12 January 2009

Had fun eating and freezing in Tagaytay yesterday with Jesser and Marthy to celebrate The Passing of The Compre. :D We were shocked to find out that it was colder outside the bus when we got there. Marthy, who has never learned his Tagaytay lesson, didn’t bring a jacket. Remarkably, he looked fine all through our time there. Must be his willpower.

Then we ate at Buon Giorno, and had a good time. Chowed down mushroom soup, two kinds of pasta, pizza, tea, the cookies that came with the tea, all for less than 400 kiyaw. Sulit! Loved the complimentary foccaccia bread and the blistering wind that came with the meal. :D Jesser snapped pics, but when the food came no one remembered to take photos of it. Gutom talaga kami.

We wanted to walk along but Jesser and I needed reinforcements (susuray-suray na lakad ko dahil sa lamig) so we made a quick trip to Istarbaks for hot chocolate. We wanted to look for little inns and hostels to stay for a weekend there, but it was already dark and the highway’s sidewalk wasn’t really pedestrian-friendly. Inevitably, we had to board a bus going back to the lowlands.

So up next, if I pass my thesis proposal defense, I will make a pledge to go back to Tagaytay and eat at Mano’s Greek Taverna. I’ve long been wanting to try Greek food.

One of the most famous was James Frey. Before him there were Margaret B. Jones, Misha Defonseca, and Clifford Irving.

And now, Herman Rosenblat.

Really, how far should one go to tell a story?

(And poor Oprah. Duped twice big time already.)

…and I’ll be there alive and kicking. After all, I just made it to Biñan and back to earth in one piece.

But it wasn’t without a barrage of questions posted on online forums, hundreds of texts sent, and tons of Googling. It felt like I was being thrown into the remotest place on earth. But once I got to the Gardenia office, finally got to comb my hair and put on some powder, I felt fine. Excited even.

Touring the Gardenia factory was fun–I actually asked to take another tour after interviewing their prexy. After that I felt brave enough to go to SM City Sta. Rosa, particularly because Pavilion Mall didn’t appeal to me (especially the washrooms–bleagh.). So I had my lunch there, did some shopping, and took the bus home at Balibago Complex. It was exhausting, alright (I spent the entire Saturday taking naps!), and slightly embarassing because I had stained my pants (damn you monthly period!), it was still a fun and fulfilling day. PWEDE NA AKONG MAGLAKWATSA PAPUNTANG LAGUNA, YEHEY!  :D

And, oh, I love you Gardenia! I swear I’ll never ever buy any other bread.
